Our little Bruiser

Cannon's official nick name as of this week is Bruiser. He is one accident prone little man. But he is undeniably happy!
Yesterday, while at the park, he received this shiner. An older child was pushing a large, empty, plastic swing (it looks like a big red, plastic, car seat hung on chains). After sliding his favorite slide, he took off towards the swing. In my much slower condition, I tried to call after him to stop him, but I was unsuccessful. The swing smacked him in the face, and spun him around like he had been punched in a western movie! I finally made it to him, panting and sweating, and saw the damage that had been done. After about 20 seconds of crying and saying "Eye, owie. Eye, owie." he wanted to get back down and continue playing. He is amazing.

This is the best picture I could get of nail-less finger. I told you how he got his finger smashed in the hinge side of a door, well the fingernail finally fell off in Nursery on Sunday. We are trying our best to keep it clean, hoping to avoid infection. Occasionally we will hear him scream while playing, bumping or smashing his ultra-sensitive finger. We will keep you updated.

Don't you think Bruiser is a very appropriate nickname? I am keeping my fingers crossed that we can avoid an Emergency Room visit in the near future.
