Last Minute Baseball Game

Ryan's work has so many opportunities for free tickets for around town. I don't know if a week goes by when there isn't some kind of event we could attend. This week wasn't any different! Ryan called Tuesday and asked if I would want to go to a AAA Championship Baseball game between Durham and Memphis. Sure, why not!? It's free!


Brenna and Cannon enjoyed themselves climbing up and down our row of bleachers and the row behind us. They didn't sit still the entire time. Which was just fine, since we had plenty of room!

By the way, the weather in Oklahoma has been absolutely Fall perfection! Warm days, cool nights. All you need is a light jacket! During the game, characters would come out and perform. Cannon became obsessive about watching them, and hasn't stopped talking about the "Bird and the Ishy (fish)". While we were walking out (early, of course! I still don't know who won!) we stopped the OKC Redhawk mascot, the previously mentioned Bird. As we got closer, he kept waving and repeating "Hi Bird! Hi Bird!" So we wanted to take a picture of this excited toddler with an oversized red bird!

This was an impromptu outing, and we had a lot of fun! Especially since we didn't have to pay!

Second Chance Prom

Ryan surprised me with a date to Chesapeake's Second Chance Prom. It was 80's themed, and we dressed appropriately! It started with a super yummy dinner, and then a dance.



I found this fabulous frock at Goodwill for $5! And my mother-in-law took it from an almost floor length dress to an under-the-knee dress. I had one lady tell me that she wore the same dress, but it was a crimson water-stained taffeta dress.

Us with one of Ryan's co-workers. It was fun to see them dressed up (and drunk) and let loose. The music was great 80's music, and they had about 4 bands perform. It was a blast! We danced for at least 2 hours! Yes, my feet were sore.

And yes, Ryan spent money on this! He explained to the flourist that it was an 80's dance, and she went to town! And it matched perfectly. The only down-fall was it was HUGE! It looked more like a Thanksgiving centerpiece!

Day at the Zoo

We had a great day at the Zoo. It was overcast, and cool, and not crowded! It was perfect! Cannon loved growling at the animals, Brooklyn loved screaming long enough for a gorilla to cover his ears, Brenna loved walking ahead of us deciding where to go, Henry loved climbing on the statue of the lion family, and Rachel and I loved throwing goldfish on the alligator trying to get a reaction! We had a blast!

9-11

I had never been to the Oklahoma City Bombing Memorial at night, and with Rachel being in town, we made the trip downtown on the evening of 9-11. It was a beautiful night and I loved being there with my family.

Sis in Town

My sister Rachel came to visit for about 10 days with her adorable boy Henry. We definitely spent some time relaxing at home (during nap time!) but I also attempted to show her some of what Oklahoma has to offer. We visited several parks for the kids, the Oklahoma Bombing Memorial in the evening on 9-11, a GREAT consignment sale (where we bought A LOT of great kids clothes!), watched one of Ryan's soccer games, to name a few. This day we took her to Pops for dinner, and Orange Tree for dessert.
Here are the crazy kids at Orange Tree. We got a bowl of chocolate with all the yummy toppings, and a bowl of fruit yogurt with granola and fruit toppings. It is very addicting!

I loved having Rachel and Henry here. It was refreshing having grown-up conversations during the day. And she was a huge help! The kitchen was always clean at night, whether she did the dishes or played with the kids while we did the dishes. Brenna has already said she misses them, and while getting the kids in the car this morning, I tried putting Cannon in the carseat Henry used, and he refused! He kept saying "En-Y (Henry) chair! En-Y chair!" We miss you!

My husband ROCKS!

Who knew he could be so handy...oh wait! I did! He has done so many projects around the house, and has done them well! So when he came to me with the idea of his latest, I knew it would turn out great. I have commented on how I wish I had more counter space, and this was his solution! He made a simple cabinet for our microwave to sit on, freeing up some counter space. I have to say, that for his first wood-working project, he did amazing! I'm so proud!

Visiting Family

What a weekend! I loved having my parents visiting, and the kids especially loved the attention. Book reading, swimming, yummy food, relaxing. What more can you ask for?

Brooklyn's Blessing

Over Labor Day weekend, we blessed Brooklyn Rachel. I loved having all the family here to celebrate with us. We thoroughly enjoyed watching BYU kill our hometown team of OU the night before. My parents came in from Utah, my sister and her husband came down from Illinois, Ryan's brother and his family came up from Houston. And we also had Ryan's parents and sister here in town. It was a FULL chapel with all the Cameron's and Bushman's visiting! We really appreciate everyone coming to support us and meet Brooklyn. She wore the same blessing dress that Brenna, and I, and my mom were blessed in! My great-grandma made it for my mom when she was little. We loved seeing everyone and feel very blessed to have this little baby be apart of our family!

Sweet Dreams

After a long Sunday, Cannon was very ready for bed. We laid him down and then got Brenna ready. When we brought her in for bed, Cannon was out! And we noticed he found himself a pillow! On his own he grabbed his stuffed soccer ball, and made it his pillow. It was too funny to pass up a picture on!

Park Fun

We found a new favorite park here in Edmond. It is brand new, and the kids love it! Instead of gravel or mulch to fill the ground, they use shredded tires. It is soft and bouncy, and provides a soft cushion for the inevitable falls. (Which Cannon fell off the playground to the shredded tire floor 7 feet below!) After one such visit, I changed Cannon's diaper before laying him down for a nap. To my surprise (and disgust) I found it filled with the shredded tires! I have no idea if he put them in there, or if his rolling around transplanted them there! Too funny!
