Our kids finally got used to taking pretty good naps in the car! Brooklyn was a little congested, so her mouth was always open. Cannon seemed to be almost embarrassed if we watched him fall asleep. So, at one point, he covered his head so he could fall asleep without anyone to see. Too cute. And I LOVE looking at my kids sleeping. 
We celebrated Cannon's birthday. We swam in the pool....wait, the pool was SOOOO cold. We swam in the not-so-hot and HUGE hot tub. We shopped. We ate. We visited my Grandma and Grandpa (highlight of the trip, although my kids were exhausted and acting it!). We played a few games. We threw paper airplanes off the balcony. We hiked around Red Rock Canyon. We danced while doing dishes. We ate. We had a great time! It was very, very challenging keeping my sanity while trying to keep my kids well-behaved in a condo with my parents and sister and family. However, the end result is great memories, so it was all worth it! 
I did not sleep last night! I tossed and turned, and kept checking the alarm clock. I did not want to sleep in. I didnt' want to be in a rush, and get stressed out and make her first day miserable. So by the time morning came, I was ready to get this day going! I made pancakes from scratch, with syrup, sausage, orange juice and fresh fruit. Not a typical weekday breakfast in the Bushman home, but I was making this doubley special day start on the right foot. It is Brenna's first day of First Grade at Russell Dougherty, AND Cannon's 3rd Birthday!
Brenna LOVES her new outfit that Grandma Lorraine bought. She showed it to a few of her friends before school, and did a fashion show for the Cameron family and her dad. She looked adorable and so grown up!
Russell Dougherty Elementary is a "Parent's Choice School" which has no attendance boundaries, and has special emphasis on Spanish and technology used in the classrooms. It is also a lot smaller, with class sizes maxing at 20 kids, and only 2 classes per grade. After being there for information day and today, I feel like I know several of the parents, teachers, and administration. With it being a much smaller school, you get to know everyone easier and really feel a sense of community!
Cannon did not want to be in his stroller. He wanted to join her in school. Poor guy, wait till next year for Pre-K! They definitely missed their big sister while she was gone. So did I!
I spent all my time getting Brenna ready for school, I didn't leave any time for me. But I was so proud, I had to get a picture with her!
Outside her new classroom. It is warm, and inviting, but has plenty of room for all the fun she will have! I think she has overused her picture perfect smile. But she still poses without complaining!
Here is Brenna with her teacher, Mrs. Harper! She grew up with Ryan's family here in Edmond. Ryan's parents were her Seminary teachers, and she was in a few of Ryan's home videos. It makes me feel more comfortable introducing her to a new school when she has a teacher who knows her already! And even without that connection, I've heard GREAT things from a lot of previous students and parents.
I walked Brenna in, and they took them out to the playground. We waited around their classroom like paparazzi, until they returned. Brenna already knows two girls in her class, friends from church. She also met some triplets on information day that she remembered their names when we saw them walking in. She is READY for full time school. Am I?!?!?
We will return to the regularly programmed blogging, after this brief intermission! I just couldn't wait to add these two posts about our last day of summer, and first day of school! We celebrated the close of summer by getting our favorite icee's!
Took Ryan to the airport. Brenna gave a tearful goodbye. She was a little weepy all day. Actually, all week until Ryan returned. She is a DADDY'S GIRL! Cannon said every single night "I wanna go home!" 
Wished Catherine could make it, we missed you! 
The second part of my reunion was a dinner and entertainment at Timpview High School. It was so funny to walk back into the commons area, wished we could have been able to snoop around the whole building. But it was closed off.
Ryan was my arm candy, and he owned that!
When we sat down at our table, Ryan leaned over and asked, "Is everyone here Mormon?" After looking around, I said yes! It was a crazy feeling, coming back from Oklahoma. So during dinner we talked kids, moves, jobs, missions, etc. The entertainment was our class president, Clark Schmutz! He emceed the night, a class of 2000 quiz, an impromptu awards ceremony (where we almost won the couple married the longest!). 
One great bonus was being there with my little sister! She married Todd, who was also in my class.
I wished we would have gotten a group photo of EVERYONE there, but this is less than half of those that were there. We lingered around catching up, sharing embarrassing stories, class pranks (which were many from our class! We were crazy!). It was such a BLAST!

After all of the goodbyes, we hitched a ride with Andrea in her high school car, the red truck. As we were getting ready to pull out, we had another odd occurence, which we called the Ghost of Timpview Present. A guy I had a chemistry class with sophomore year (among other classes) pulled up, he wasn't at the reunion... just in the parking lot afterwards! After another awkward conversation with this Ghost, he left and we drove home. Passing a very futuristic car, which also pulled up to ours (we think they were students who were "cruising"). We came full circle with this Ghost of Timpview Future.

THS Alumni, see you again in 10 years!
Me and Kristi, with one of her twin girls! I have known her since elementary school. We were in plays together, some gymnastic programs together, had sleep overs, the works! And she looks exactly the same! 
Steve is one that I have kept in somewhat contact with since high school. We have known each other since he moved here...I think sophomore year. But we became great friends especially our senior year. He is a GREAT friend, and I loved seeing his beautiful wife and daughter! 
One of the best surprises was our long lost buddies from college. I knew Rachelle my freshman year at Ricks, when we were single and CRAZY! And our friendship lasted through that crazy year, onto the sophomore year, when we both met, dated and eventually married our husbands (a month apart). After we got married, we moved in right next door! And there stayed, attached to their hips until we graduated! We haven't seen them since we visited 5 years ago! And when we saw them 5 years ago, there was just 5 of us (me, Ryan, Kelly, Rachelle, and Brenna). Now there are 9! Almsot double. Here are their cute kids!
They haven't changed a bit! And it is the true test of friendship, when you haven't seen them for a while and you are able to jump right back in like it was 5 years earlier. Which of course we did. I MISS them! Hopefully we can visit them in Cali next spring/summer!

Brenna loved walking around Temple Square. Seeing all of the missionaries from all over the world. Recognizing the Salt Lake City Temple, and the Conference Center, and the Tabernacle. We visited both Vistor's Centers. 
We tried to keep the kids quieter while viewing the Christus Statue, but the room echoes. And both Brooklyn and Cannon LOVE to hear their echoes! There was a family the sister missionaries were talking to while we were up there. In the South Visitor's Center was a display about the Salt Lake City Temple, and Brenna loved looking at the pictures and displays. We also walked around this North Visitor's Center, it had a display about the Humanitarian Aid. It is amazing what the Church accomplishes, but doesn't publish too often.
