I swore this would never happen to me.
As a mom, do you always have to be proven wrong?!?
While I was attending the General Relief Society Broadcast with my next door neighbor, her 9 year old daughter and Brenna played at our home. They decided to play beauty school, and Brenna was the subject. The front doesn't look horrible, she has a few long bangs on both sides, and some shorter pieces throughout. But the damage was done in the back. I wrestled with the punishment. I wanted to scare her out of doing this again, but not base her value on her appearance. She has had some prized possessions put in the 'bad choice basket'. We have limited her 'playdates'. And when we do decide to get her hair fixed, she is paying for it out of her piggy bank (which is typically only used for snow-cones or prizes at the zoo). I hope she has learned her lesson. I have learned mine. Don't assume you've figured anything out about parenting!

hi , i just found your blog , it's great1 oh that stinks about your daughter's hair! it doesn't look too bad , at least from here :0) i so hear ya on being proven wrong , i've been proven wrong one too many times !:0)
Oh my. I did this once as a child too. My Mom left me like that for 3 days. I swore too, like you that it wouldn't happen to my kids...so far it hasn't. I hide the scissors.
But I know that soon that won't be enough. LOVE the Bad Choice Basket. We have the Toy timeout. Great idea having her pay for the new cut. That'll should make her think about it. I hate being proven wrong. Mostly because I'm SO perfect! :)
Sad story! I don't know what the fascination is with hair cutting, but I'd wager the majority of kids have taken or will take a chunk out their hair. Are you guys coming down for Lauren's baptism?
