Every year, Chesapeake has a Duck Derby fundraiser. Employees can purchase rubber ducks for $5 each, which will be entered into a race down a stream in the middle of campus. The proceeds are donated to the local United Way. This year they sold 5000 ducks! They separated them into two races, and the 1st place winners received $1000, 2nd place $900 and so on to 10th place receiving $100. We made it a family day, visited Dad at work, watched our ducks lose (we only bought 2) and had a yummy lunch in their on-campus restaurants. It was a lot of fun, and I love the family environment they create. Brenna loves any excuse to see Daddo at work, even through the tears of a losing duck.
