A couple weeks before Christmas, I didn't feel right. And I knew exactly what it was, but couldn't believe that that could possibly be the explanation. I was under the assumption it would take fertility treatments and a lot of time, like it did with Cannon. But after a soccer game, I could tell something was definitely different. So I rushed to Wal-Mart, with Cannon in my arms, and grabbed a 3-pack of EPT tests. Embarrassed I was carrying around a 16 month old, and worried I would inevitably see a friend or member of our Church, I hid the box till I made it to the self-check out lane. I quickly purchased...and couldn't wait till I got home. Not just nerves, my bladder wouldn't hold it. (One of the "things that just wasn't right"!) So I actually took the first test, in the bathroom stall of Wal-Mart, trying to keep Cannon from climbing underneath the walls. Romantic, huh? It turned a questionable "Pregnant". I raced home, drank water the entire way, passed Cannon off to Ryan and went immediately in to our bathroom for a second try. It was the same response, a fuzzy positive. I was in shock! How on earth did this happen? Well, I know how this happened, but it wasn't possible. There was a mixture of emotions: shock, excitement, fear, exhaustion, confusion, worry, baffled, and a little more excitement.
Today, I am almost 14 weeks pregnant. I have had 3 ultra-sounds, each time shows a healthy baby, growing right on target. This puts my due date at August 6th, but c-sections come at least a week early. Cannon came a month early, which I hope doesn't happen again. But I am mentally prepared for that possibility. We have told Brenna, and she informed us she is getting her sister. We'll see if she is right again! (She was right from day one with Cannon. If she is, we'll start charging expectant moms to have Brenna predict what they're having!) Cannon and this next one will be almost 2 years apart, which I had always wanted. Yet I loved the space between Brenna and Cannon. She was potty trained, she could hold him and feed him, fetch diapers, she slept through the night, was in a big-girl bed. But I think Cannon will love having a buddy so close in age. We are very excited, and wanted to officially spread the news. And since Brenna knows, it is hard to contain!
