Bushman Tradition

Every year, we make gingerbread houses. This is the first year we have bought a kit. I did it out of rebellion.

Ryan is a master architect. He can take graham crackers, frosting and sweet candy and create the Taj Mahal! Whereas, mine looks like an adobe hut that is going to fall over with the slightest sneeze. But it is tradition! So I compromised. We did one gingerbread house. It was from a kit. Pre-cut gingerbread. Pre-made Frosting. And Willy Wonka candy. Perfect! Ryan and Brenna made the actual house Tuesday night (FHE got pushed back a day!) then decorated the dried and stiff house on Wednesday night. Brenna thought it was the best activity, and even shared with her pre-K class this story during their "Family Traditions Sharing" week. I love the holidays for reminding us of the importance of traditions, and spending time as a family!

I'm all over the kits! Then you get to the fun part right away.

I love how it looks like Cannon is just waiting for the leftovers. Can't wait to get those boys together!

Very nice crafting Brenna (and Ryan)--Oh, I just remembered how Gene used to make them for us to decorate when we first got married! No wonder Ryan has so many loved traditions, he had a tireless mom who made sure her kids did it all! : )
